(DailyVantage.com) – A 22-year-old former delegate for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) has announced she is leaving the Democratic Party to support former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Audrey McNeal, who served as a DNC delegate in both 2020 and 2024, shared her decision in a video posted on social media. According to the Daily Caller, McNeal explained her reasons on Friday, stating she will cast her vote for Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, on November 5.
“In 2020, I was elected at 18 to become one of the youngest delegates to the Democratic National Convention on behalf of my district. And in 2024, I was elected again to return to the DNC as a delegate. But this year, I’m casting my ballot for Donald Trump,” McNeal said.
Reflecting on her time at the DNC, McNeal voiced concerns over free speech, the economy, and the Democratic Party’s handling of the border crisis. “After I was elected in March, which was before Joe Biden’s debate, I wanted to go to the DNC because I wanted answers,” she said. However, she found the party’s focus shifted away from free speech and civil liberties. McNeal argued that the Democratic Party’s elite “concealed” their decision-making process, particularly regarding the nomination of Kamala Harris. “For the rulers of the Democratic Party elite to install Kamala Harris as the presidential nominee by stripping the vote of 14 million Americans including their own delegates such as myself, well, that was a transaction that was concealed,” she noted.
McNeal said she is now “officially joining the Republican Party as a constitutional conservative.”
McNeal’s announcement comes as recent Gallup polls indicate that more Americans are leaning toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party. Additionally, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who was also a Democrat, recently announced her decision to join the GOP at a Trump rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. Gabbard explained her choice, stating that her alignment with Trump’s vision has led her to support the Republican Party, which she now considers “the party of the people.”
McNeal also referenced the Founding Father Patrick Henry, known for his stance on individual liberties and his famous line, “Give me liberty or give me death!” She invoked his words to underscore her support for transparency and freedom, values she said have now led her to embrace the GOP.
