84 Women Rescued by Authorities in Brothel Bust

(DailyVantage.com) – Texas law enforcement, including the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) and the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, recently led an operation in Houston that resulted in the rescue of 84 women believed to be victims of sex trafficking. Authorities uncovered disturbing conditions at various brothels masquerading as bars and nightclubs, where women were subjected to repeated abuse. According to TABC Chairman Kevin Lilly, these brothels featured hidden, cramped rooms with soiled mattresses and cement floors — concealed behind facades of normal establishments with dance floors and pool tables.

Lilly attributed the plight of the victims, many of whom had crossed the border hoping for legitimate work, to the ruthless practices of human trafficking cartels. He described the systemic exploitation of the women, many of whom were forced to endure abuse up to 30 times a day. Cartels reportedly recruit vulnerable women with false promises of waitress jobs, only to force them into the sex trade under brutal conditions.

As a result of this operation, nine Houston-area establishments have been shut down, and four individuals have been arrested on trafficking-related charges. Lilly emphasized the urgent need for stricter border policies to prevent the exploitation of migrants by cartels. He argued that the U.S. must address cartel influence at the border by closing loopholes in the immigration system, including “Catch and Release,” and by implementing measures to target and dismantle cartel operations.

According to Lilly, cartels charge migrants exorbitant fees, sometimes as high as $25,000 per person, creating a devastating financial burden for individuals who cannot afford it. Many victims travel hundreds of miles with little understanding of the exploitation awaiting them upon arrival.
