Toilet Seat in the Dishwasher? – What You Need To Know
(DailyVantage.com) – Since the birth of the Internet and especially social media, countless life hacks have gone viral. Influencers are always looking for new ways to garner publicity. Sometimes, the videos they put out are simply shocking, like the one two women from Minnesota produced recently.
Kate Heintzelman and Janelle Flom are two 30-year-old women who are now Internet famous due to a cleaning hack people have viewed more than 4 million times. The ladies have a novel way to sanitize a toilet seat so clean you could eat off it — they say you should throw it in the dishwasher. You didn’t read that wrong. Not only do the women put the seat in the dishwasher, but they do it alongside dishes. Naturally, this “tip” has garnered quite a mixed bag of reactions — and some vocal opposition to the cleaning method.

Although many viewers worried the temperature wouldn’t get hot enough to kill the germs and bacteria on the seat, microbiologist David Coil said after swabbing several toilet seats, his findings were “nothing too exciting.”
It’s unclear whether the ladies intended the post to be an actual hack or just a joke. The two women who made the video didn’t respond to requests from the New York Post for comment.
