Alec Baldwin Files Lawsuits Against Multiple “Rust” Crew Members

(DailyVantage.com) – In October 2021, on the set of the movie “Rust,” Alec Baldwin fired what he believed was a “safe” prop gun — but it contained real bullets and ultimately claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. In the year after the tragedy, Hutchin’s family sued over her wrongful death, later settling with the star. Baldwin currently faces a lawsuit from Mamie Mitchell, a script supervisor. The actor maintains his innocence, saying the event was an accident. Now, he’s filed a lawsuit of his own.

On Friday, November 11, Baldwin filed a cross-complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging several members of the movie’s staff were negligent. A cross-complaint is a document a defendant can issue in response to a lawsuit. In the claim, the actor alleges he has lost work due to the allegations against him and “has suffered physically and emotionally from the grief” stemming from the accident.

Among the individuals named in Baldwin’s negligence lawsuit are Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the movie’s armorer; David Halls, a safety coordinator; and Seth Kenney, whose company, PDQ Arm & Prop, supplied the ammunition and other items used in the movie.

The saga is nowhere near over for Baldwin. He could still face criminal charges stemming from the shooting if the prosecutors find viable evidence.
