(DailyVantage.com) – Police charged Joseph M. Czuba of Plainfield, Illinois, with murder after allegedly killing a young boy and injuring his mother. Officers received a call at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday about a fight between a renter and a property owner. Czuba was found in his yard with a large gash on his head. The police went into the home and found both the mother and her son in a bedroom. Six-year-old Weda Al-Fayoume was stabbed 26 times and his mother over a dozen times. All were sent to a medical facility to be treated for injuries.
The onslaught took place after Czuba was allegedly offended by the mother’s suggestion to “pray for peace” for those in the Middle East war. Czuba’s wife said he pulled $1,000 in cash out of his bank because he was afraid the war would come to the U.S. and the grid would shut down. Reportedly, texts on the mother’s phone to Al-Fayoume’s father said Czuba threatened to kill them because they were Muslims before the stabbing occurred.
Al-Fayoume’s 32-year-old mother sought refuge in her bathroom from Czuba’s initial attack. After calling 911, she returned only to find her son had been killed. A 12-inch military knife was found with the boy during his autopsy.
In response to this horrific attack, President Biden said hate does not belong in America as it goes against everything the U.S. stands for. “We must come together and reject Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and hatred”, the president said. America is a place of refuge where Muslim families come to dream of a peaceful life. He went on to say he was appalled by the news of the stabbing. The president said the family was in his thoughts and in everyone’s prayers.
Czuba is imprisoned at the Will County Adult Detention Facility and refuses to say anything about his alleged attack. He is being charged with counts of hate crimes, attempted murder, murder, and aggravated battery.
