Amazon Drops Black Lives Matter

Amazon Drops Black Lives Matter

(DailyVantage.com) – Millions of people shop on Amazon every day, and in doing so they also have the opportunity use the Amazon Smile program to donate to the charity of their choice while they make their purchases. The online retail giant has just dropped one of its charities after some disturbing details came to light.

On Tuesday, February 15, Amazon removed Black Lives Matter (BLM) from its charitable contribution program. This action comes nearly two years after the company donated $10 million to the social justice movement following the death of George Floyd in May 2020. Per Amazon, charities must meet stringent requirements, including remaining “in good standing” in the state where they filed their articles of incorporation and “in the states and territories where they… [conduct] business.”

BLM is currently under financial scrutiny in multiple states, the organization no longer qualifies for AmazonSmile. According to reports, both Washington and California have threatened to take legal action against the organization for its failure to report where its donations from the second half of 2020 went.

Patrisse Cullors, the co-founder of the social justice group, avoided the question as to where the money went but tried to make excuses saying BLM was funded by “White corporation guilt.”

On February 2, BLM shut down its donation website amid legal threats. The organization is supposedly seeking “compliance counsel” to restore its standings but has failed to do so as of the time of publication.
