Body Of Missing National Guard Hero Found — He Made The Ultimate Sacrifice
(DailyVantage.com) – The border crisis is proving to be deadly in more ways than one. Migrants put their own lives at risk trying to enter the US, but they also put the lives of others at risk too, exemplified in a recent case. A National Guardsman died while trying to help two migrants who appeared to be drowning in the Rio Grande.
On Friday, April 22, 22-year-old Bishop E. Evans, a Texas Army National Guard Specialist, attempted to help migrants crossing the Rio Grande river into the United States. Unfortunately, the current swept Evans away, and he went missing. On Monday, April 25, authorities found his body in Eagle Pass three days later. Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) said he was “heartbroken” and posted a tribute to Evans on Twitter:
We are heartbroken to learn of the death of SPC Bishop Evans.
He heroically served his state & country.
I want to thank all rescue teams that worked to locate this soldier.
Join me & Cecilia in praying for the family & friends of SPC Evans. pic.twitter.com/xwSZlqEGhT

At the time of the tragic incident, Evans was working for Operation Lone Star, Abbott’s border initiative created to handle the astounding number of illegal immigrants crossing or attempting to cross the border. Authorities took the migrants Evans was trying to save into custody and determined their involvement in illicit transnational narcotics trafficking.
How many more American heroes will we lose before we address the ongoing tragedy at the Southern border?
