(DailyVantage.com) – On Monday, Bank of America experienced a widespread issue, leaving many customers unable to access their accounts or see their balances. The bank acknowledged the problem, explaining that “some clients” were affected by a glitch, which caused account information to be temporarily unavailable. In a statement, Bank of America said, “These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
The outage led to widespread concern, with numerous customers taking to social media to express their frustrations and anxieties. Journalist Elijah Schaffer, a contributor to The Gateway Pundit, shared that both his personal and business accounts appeared to have been wiped to $0. “My personal and business Bank of America accounts were wiped to $0.00 in this alleged cyber attack,” Schaffer posted. Other users voiced similar worries, with one person on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Bank of America having a glitch and my account being at $0 gave me a heart attack.”
The glitch appeared to affect thousands of users, with DownDetector, a site that tracks service outages, recording over 1,000 reports of Bank of America outages by midday. That number skyrocketed to more than 17,000 by early afternoon, as more customers found themselves unable to log in or access their account information. Several people mentioned that the banking app was showing zero balances, while others reported that they were locked out entirely.
Frustration mounted as some customers reported difficulties in reaching customer support. One person on X complained that Bank of America’s phone lines were disconnected, stating, “Can’t call customer support either because they just hang up saying they can’t accept calls right now.” This only fueled rumors and speculation about the possibility of a cyberattack.
As of late afternoon, the number of reported outages had dropped to around 2,000, suggesting that the issue was being resolved. However, the incident left many customers unsettled, raising questions about the security and reliability of the bank’s systems. Despite Bank of America’s reassurance that the problem was under control, the glitch has sparked concerns about how such outages can disrupt people’s access to their finances.
