Chuck Schumer’s Endorsement of Harris Ignored, Silent Audience

(DailyVantage.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris has finally clinched two key personalities in the Democratic Party to endorse her as the party’s next presidential nominee – New York lawmakers Representative Hakeem Jeffries and Senator Chuck Schumer.

The two announced their pledge of support at a press conference, with the New York senator saying that he was excited about the prospect of the Democratic Party finally uniting behind Harris. Jeffries agreed, saying that he believes Harris is ready and up for the task of taking over the legacy that will be left by President Joe Biden. Schumer also serves as the majority leader for the Democrat-dominated Senate, while Jeffries is minority leader for the liberals in Congress, where the Republicans in turn, hold the majority.

Schumer had an awkward moment, however, during his announcement, where he repeatedly expected people to applaud his and Jeffries’ pledge of support for Harris – only to be met with silence. @RNC Research, a Twitter / X account that operates under the auspices of the campaign of former president Donald Trump and the Republican national committee, was quick to ridicule Schumer over the incident. “TOUGH CROWD, CHUCK! Nobody likes Kamala,” the post read.

Schumer’s and Jeffries’ endorsement of the vice president as the party’s new presidential nominee comes on the heels of Harris’ steady build up of a more unified coalition of support behind her, both from prominent members of the party as well as from major Democratic donors.

From within the party, some of Harris’ most notable supporters include members of the ultra-progressive “Squad” – sans Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib – as well as California Representative Nancy Pelosi, and California Governor Gavin Newsom. There has been little opposition to the prospect of Harris’ presidential run after she was first endorsed by the president after he announced that he would no longer be pursuing a re-election.

Some of the major donors who have pledged support for Harris include philanthropist Melinda Gates, hedge fund billionaire George Soros, businessman and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman, and Hollywood actor George Clooney.
