(DailyVantage.com) – Former 2016 Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton weighed in last week on the nickname social media users gave to Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.
Some social media users began referring to the Minnesota governor as “Tampon Tim” over the legislation he signed into law that requires public schools to install tampon dispensers in the boys’ lavatories.
In an August 7 post on X, Mrs. Clinton shared a screen capture of a social media meme showing a box of tampons featuring Walz’s face and the name “Tampon Tim.” She suggested that the Trump campaign was behind the effort and sarcastically praised Team Trump for helping to publicize Walz’s “compassionate and common-sense policy” of providing free tampons to Minnesota public school students.
Clinton does not note in her post that the law ensured that tampons were available in the boys’ lavatories, despite boys not menstruating.
Social media users landed on the nickname to highlight Walz’s support for radical transgender policies, including transgender medical treatment for minors.
Podcaster Liz Wheeler said the nickname was “savagely effective” because it told voters everything they needed to know about Walz’s “dangerous radicalism.” Wheeler described Walz as “creepy” and accused him of taking away the rights of parents.
While social media users have embraced the “Tampon Tim” nickname, the Trump campaign has continued to hammer Walz over his radical positions as Minnesota governor and his history of repeatedly embellishing his military service.
The Trump campaign has also criticized the Harris-Walz ticket for refusing to give interviews or hold a press conference with reporters.
In an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” last Sunday, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance accused both Harris and Walz of avoiding reporters because they are uncomfortable with their policy positions.
Vance told host Dana Bash that Harris and Walz resorted to “schoolyard bully” tactics as a way to distract voters from their radical policies. He suggested that the Democrat candidates were not “comfortable in their own skin” or their policy positions, so they have resorted to “name-calling.”
