“Detective of the Year” Exposed as a Bad Man

Detective of the Year Exposed as a Creep

(DailyVantage.com) – The public expects police officers to be trustworthy individuals the community can count on in troubled times. Yet, sometimes, bad actors work their way into these coveted positions. Three years ago, the community honored Santa Ana police officer Gregory Daniel Beaumarchais as “Detective of the Year.” Today, he’s facing jail time and placement in a sexual offense registry for inappropriate behavior towards a minor.

On Tuesday, following the issue of a warrant for his arrest, Beaumarchais turned himself in to law enforcement officials. He faces a single misdemeanor charge related to molesting or annoying a victim under the age of 18.

The infraction stems from communications with a decoy who the police officer thought was a 14-year-old girl. He allegedly sent explicit messages from December 2021 through January 2022, which the undercover agent turned over to the Orange County Crime Stoppers organization. From there, an investigation ensued, and the US Department of Homeland Security assisted.

In a news release, District Attorney Todd Spitzer said the situation is “beyond disturbing” because an authority figure should never put children in a position where they “worry about being [targeted] by the very people we teach them who are there to protect them.”

Authorities released Beaumarchais without bail, and the court scheduled his arraignment for October 13. He’s currently on administrative leave.
