(DailyVantage.com) – Progressive Democratic Senator and former Presidential candidate in 2020 Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) announced on Monday that she would be seeking her third term in office.
Warren, in a video she posted to her social media, laid out policy platforms as well as other plans for 2024.
In the video, Warren said that the system was “rigged” in favor of the rich and that the “powerful” have an unfair advantage in America. As a self-proclaimed “populist”, the Massachusetts Senator said that she would fight for “everyone else”, a claim often made by Bernie Sanders and others on the populist left.
Moreover, Warren used her announcement video as an opportunity to go after Republicans. “We’ve seen the powerful forces against us”, she said, “and how extreme the Republicans are.”
Also in the video were far-left politicians such as progressive squad member Representative Ayanna Presley (D-MA) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), who during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address, donned a pin that read “Abortion” with a heart where the O should be.
In appearing with these two provocative members of Congress, Warren appeared to be doubling down on her progressive credentials. In a state like Massachusetts, though, it is unlikely voters will take issue with that, as a Republican’s chances are slim to say the least.
It is worth noting, however, that Warren’s seat was not always held by a Democrat. In 2012, she defeated incumbent Senator Scott Brown (R-MA).
Warren quickly became a fixture of Massachusetts politics, frequently appearing on MSNBC, CNN, and other mainstream news channels.
In 2018, Warren easily defeated Republican challenger Geoff Diehl by a whopping 24 points.
Unlike some of her colleagues, such as Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Jon Tester (D-MT), both of whom will face tough reelection battles in increasingly red states, Warren will most likely coast into her third term with ease.
