(DailyVantage.com) – Rapper Macklemore made headlines after a performance in Seattle where he shouted “F— America” to a cheering crowd. The statement was caught on video and shared on social media, sparking both praise and backlash. The performance was part of Macklemore’s “Palestine Will Live Forever” event, which he promoted on Facebook.
During the show, Macklemore encouraged the crowd’s chants and joined in by saying, “Yeah, F— America,” which only made the audience louder. This moment was captured and shared by journalist Cam Higby.
Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, hosted the event at Seattle’s Seward Park Amphitheater. Proceeds were set to go to several organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). This agency has been criticized for having ties to Hamas, a terrorist group in Gaza. Even the U.N. had to dismiss nine UNRWA employees due to possible connections to a Hamas-led attack on Israel in October 2023.
Macklemore’s representatives were asked to comment, but they did not respond.
This wasn’t the first time the rapper made controversial statements. In May, he released an anti-Israel song titled “Hind’s Hall.” The song supports anti-Israel protests on college campuses and criticizes President Biden, law enforcement, and the music industry. Macklemore later released a second version that took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for president. He warned Harris that she could lose the battleground state of Michigan if she continues supporting Israel. He also included a line from a chant calling for the destruction of Israel.
Macklemore has become more vocal about global conflicts recently. In September, he canceled a concert in Dubai to protest the United Arab Emirates’ role in the conflict in Sudan. The decision came after requests from activists who wanted him to stand with the people of Sudan.
Macklemore’s actions and statements have stirred up strong reactions, keeping him in the center of political debates.
