(DailyVantage.com) – Former President Donald Trump seeks to have the judge overseeing his latest indictment recused due to his concerns that a fair trial will be impossible under the official judiciary. Trump is primarily concerned that the judge overseeing his latest criminal case, Tanya Chutkan, was appointed by former President Barack Obama during his time in the Oval Office.
Chutkan is also a long-time political donor who supports the Democratic Party, raising questions about her ability to remain impartial when overseeing a controversial case with a political opponent. Chutkan worked for the same law firm that once hired President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and regularly imposed harsh sentences for those involved in the January 6th incident where protesters stormed the capitol.
Trump not only hopes for Chutkan to be recused from his case but also for a change of venue from the Washington, D.C., trial location entirely. Trump’s team is seeking a change of venue to another state, such as West Virginia, due to concerns about a biased trial against the former president. Trump will plead not guilty to the latest charges against him and will likely start his criminal trial sometime during the presidential election next year. Despite the growing legal battles that Trump is facing, he remains confident that he will be the Republican nominee in next year’s election season.
Trump’s defense attorneys are outspoken about the ongoing legal battle Trump currently faces and remain confident that he will be found innocent of the charges against him. Trump’s latest criminal case is related to the 2020 election and his alleged attempts to undermine the election results. Former Vice President Mike Pence may even testify in the case, an outcome that Trump’s lawyers claim will result in Trump’s acquittal.
Trump’s legal team seems confident that Trump will not be found guilty and states that Trump will not be accepting any plea deal ahead of the trial. Trump is already facing additional charges in other parts of the country and could still be convicted even if he’s found innocent of the latest criminal charges. Despite this growing legal battle, Trump’s team remains adamant that he’s innocent and will be the next president of the United States.
