Famous Comedian Reveals PRIVATE Illness Details – Tells What Happened

(DailyVantage.com) – The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people in different ways. Some were happy to remain home, while others who enjoyed being social didn’t fare well with quarantines and other restrictions. For people who face daily struggles, like Howie Mandel, dealing with the pandemic was more difficult than he expected.

On Sunday, May 22, Mandel appeared on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast and revealed what he went through. During the lockdown phase of the pandemic, he admitted his Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) resulted in unhealthy excesses, like smoking, drinking, and eating gummies. Mandel admitted he blacked out or participated in these activities until he passed out.

However, that wasn’t the end of it. When the lockdown finally ended, and conditions began returning to normal, Mandel, a germaphobe who hasn’t shaken anyone’s hand in two decades, contracted the virus at the first public event he attended since COVID restrictions went into effect.

During his illness, he had to quarantine. Although his symptoms weren’t bad, the comedian said contracting the virus had a detrimental effect on his mental health. “I got incredibly depressed, incredibly neurotic,” during those 10 days, Mandel said, adding he couldn’t really distract himself for that long.

Mandel made it through the ordeal but said he’s happy to be on the other side of the experience and out of isolation, and the performer stressed how important it is for people to speak up and end the stigma many place on mental health issues.
