Father Accused of Poisoning Daughter Following Wife’s Murder

(DailyVantage.com) – The North Carolina man who was arrested in 2019 for poisoning his wife and later staging his own kidnapping while out on bond was arrested again earlier this month in Gaston County on eight additional charges.

According to August 6 arrest records, 39-year-old Joshua Hunsucker was arrested on four counts each of obstruction of justice and witness intimidation for his repeated harassment of his late wife’s parents.

Hunsucker was arrested in late 2019 and charged with the 2018 murder of his wife Stacy Robinson Hunsucker. According to prosecutors, Hunsucker poisoned his wife using the main ingredient in eye drops, tetrahydrozoline, causing her to suffer cardiac arrest.

Following her death, Hunsucker refused an autopsy, claiming that his wife was an organ donor. However, blood tests determined that Stacy had up to 40 times the normal levels of tetrahydrozoline in her system, which can cause cardiac arrest.

Hunsucker had been out on a $1.5 million bond while awaiting trial.

According to court documents filed on August 6, Hunsucker allegedly poisoned his daughter in February 2023 using the same method he used on his late wife. Prosecutors accuse Hunsucker of poisoning his daughter in an attempt to frame his former in-laws in Stacy’s murder to remove them from his daughters’ lives.

According to prosecutors, Hunsucker allegedly harassed and intimidated the Robinsons, including taking videos or photos of them, regularly driving past their home, and showing up at the church they attend.

Hunsucker’s actions toward his former in-laws had grown more aggressive, raising concern about their safety, according to prosecutors. The prosecution requested that Hunsucker’s bond be revoked, arguing that Husucker’s “dangerous actions” would likely escalate.

The former paramedic was also accused of setting fire to a medical helicopter in November 2019 to force it to make an emergency landing near a car dealership in Charlotte.

Hunsucker was later accused of staging a botched kidnapping in February 2023. He accused his late wife’s father of drugging and attacking him. However, police found no evidence to support the allegations.
