FBI Director Raises Alarm Over Increased Terrorism Threat

(DailyVantage.com) – FBI Director Christopher Wray is raising the alarm on multiple threats America is facing such as from terrorist organizations and individuals, and from Chinese hackers.

Testifying at a House Appropriations Subcommittee session, Wray said that the events of October 7, 2023 attack on Israel have sparked a “heightened threat environment”, particularly against the U.S., which is a strong ally of Israel. In fact, the U.S. just passed a massive $95 billion military aid package that would send aid to several countries, Israel included.

In his statement to lawmakers, Wray said that the U.S. is facing “so many threats to public safety and national security” at a much higher degree than before, and all at the same time to boot.

Speaking at another event, Wray said that the Jewish community in particular, is under threat, given Israel’s aggressive stance against multiple Middle Eastern countries. Many of these nations are sympathetic to Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, and are critical of Israel’s continued armed foray into Gaza as retaliation for Hamas’ October 7 attacks.

According to Wray, pro-Palestinian “lone actors” may take it upon themselves to assault Jewish “large gatherings, high profile events, or symbolic or religious locations”, ostensibly in condemnation of Israel’s actions in the Middle East. According to Wray, reported hate crimes against Jews – and subsequent FBI investigations for these incidents – have tripled after the events of October 7. Statistics released by the Anti-Defamation League support this, indicating a 140% jump in antisemitic crimes last year compared to 2022.

Wray has also warned about the threat posed by hackers from China, whom the FBI director said has already made inroads into critical infrastructure systems in the U.S. and are just waiting for the go-signal to strike at the right moment. China, Wray said, is making good progress on its plan to create the “ability to physically wreak havoc” in civilian infrastructure “at a time of its” choosing, with the goal of creating mass panic among Americans.
