(DailyVantage.com) – While the Democrats continue to demonize former president Donald Trump and constantly issue grim warnings of what supposedly might happen should he assume the presidency a second time, the former chief executive continues to enjoy a lead – albeit a slim one – in the polls over President Joe Biden.
Data collected by poll aggregating site FiveThirtyEight indicates that Trump has 41.2% support among voters, as opposed to Biden’s slightly smaller 40.3% support.
A recent campaign rally in New Jersey also shows what looks to be an upsurge in support for the former president, with crowds reaching anywhere from 80,000 to 100,000 – double than what even Team Trump expected.
The growing support for more Republican and conservative policies may likely be at least in part because of Republicans’ and Trump’s push for more stringent immigration policies. A recent Harris poll shows that the Trumpian immigration policies, such as mass deportation, are supported by more than half of Americans. What makes the figure especially notable is that mass deportation is also supported by a substantial 42% of Democrats. Significant percentages of both Democrats (30%) and Republicans (46%) even go as far as saying that birthright citizenship – a right guaranteed under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution – should be done away with.
The sentiments reflect the concern many Americans have over the growing migrant crisis in the country. The crisis has seen thousands of migrants from different countries cross into the country illegally, with tens of thousands more waiting at the U.S. – Mexico border in hopes of being granted permission to enter America. The influx of migrants has strained the resources of border towns all over the U.S., and even of the so-called Democrat-run “sanctuary cities” that are buckling under the weight of expenses needed to support those who have sought shelter in their territories.
Many illegal immigrants also contribute to the crime rate. Offenses range anywhere from petty theft to murder, such as the killing of nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. Others, such as illegal migrant influencer Leonel Moreno, give fellow illegals “tips” on how to squat on private property.
