(DailyVantage.com) – More than half of Americans endorse mass deportation of illegal immigrants, according to a recent poll regarding the 2024 presidential election. The poll asked various citizens how they’d react if the federal government instituted a mass deportation of illegal immigrants, a policy promised by former President Donald Trump during his various press appearances. The poll’s respondents leaned towards supporting the mass deportation of illegal immigrants, with 51% claiming they’d support the policy if implemented by the White House.
The poll featured respondents who identified as independent, Republican, and Democratic. From the Republican demographic, 68% said they’d support mass deportation. Independent respondents seemed less enthusiastic about mass deportation, with 46% claiming they supported the controversial policy. The Democrat respondents had the lowest amount of support for mass deportation, as only 42% said they’d support the mass deportation of illegal immigrants. The poll received responses from more than 6,200 people and featured respondents in several distinct age demographics.
The largest amount of support for mass deportation came from respondents who were in the Baby Boomer age range, 60 to 80 years old. Approximately 60% of the Baby Boomers interviewed indicated their support for mass deportation. The second highest amount of support came from Generation X, or people between 45 and 59 years old, with 53% saying they’d support a mass deportation policy. Millennials provided the third largest support base for mass deportation, with 48% claiming they’d support the controversial policy. Generation Z had the least support for mass deportation, with only 35% agreeing with the measure.
The poll also asked respondents what they considered their most significant concerns regarding illegal immigration. The most common concern amongst respondents was an increase in violent crime and drug trafficking due to an influx of illegal immigrants, with the burden on taxpayers coming in as the second largest issue for Americans concerning illegal immigration. Another critical concern identified by respondents was the growing threat to national security.
While it primarily focuses on illegal immigration and mass deportation, it also features questions regarding the efficiency of the United States government. The poll asked respondents if they believed the United States had control over the southern border, a question to which only 20% of respondents answered in the affirmative. Many Americans feel as though President Joe Biden’s approach to illegal immigration has been inadequate, a sentiment highlighted by the number of respondents who feel as though mass deportation could be a viable solution to the border crisis.
