(DailyVantage.com) – The latest trial of fallen movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, 70, ended in California on Monday. Predictably, the jury voted to convict. The film producer could now face decades more prison time on top of the New York sentence he’s already serving.
A New York jury convicted Harvey Weinstein, who co-founded Miramax, of rape and sexual assault in 2020, and he’s now serving a 23-year prison sentence. Last year, authorities transferred him to Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, CA, ahead of a new trial, which began in October. After a one-month trial followed by nine days of deliberations, the panel returned the verdict.

Jurors cleared Weinstein of one of the seven charges against him, and two charges resulted in a hung jury — but the panel convicted him of rape, forced oral copulation, and sexual misconduct, all against the same victim.
Weinstein’s legal team is still fighting the New York convictions, arguing that he didn’t receive a fair trial. The courts rejected one appeal in June but, in August, granted him a hearing on another appeal the court will likely hear next year. However, even if that were to succeed, this week’s LA verdict ends any chance of him walking free. The California court could sentence him to another 24 years in prison.
