(DailyVantage.com) – Throughout his time in office, and even after, Democrats have made no bones about the fact that they don’t want former President Donald Trump to hold office ever again. Now, dozens on the Left are making moves to try to ban him from doing so.
On Thursday, December 15, Representative David N. Cicilline (D-RI), backed by 40 other Democrats, introduced legislation to keep Trump out of office. The bill cites Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which states that someone who took an oath to support the US Constitution and engaged “in insurrection or rebellion against the same” shall not hold office. Cicilline further expanded his explanation in a press release, saying Section 5 of the 14th Amendment gives Congress the power to enforce such action.

In the 28-page legislation, Democrats point out how Trump tried to use his Vice President, Mike Pence, to interfere in the certification of the 2020 election results. Further, it points out multiple incidents which Cicilline believes indicate the former leader’s attempts to undermine the election process.
Trump recently announced his intentions to run for president again in the 2024 election. With a growing divide in the GOP, it’ll be interesting to see how the primary plays out.
