(DailyVantage.com) – In Fairfax County, Virginia, an illegal alien and his girlfriend were arrested after police discovered two young boys chained inside their apartment. Franklin Viera Guevara, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, and his 47-year-old girlfriend, Wedni Del Cid Rodriguez, face serious charges including child neglect, child cruelty, and child abduction. The boys, aged seven and nine, were found with their ankles chained to a post next to a sleeping cot in the couple’s apartment.
The incident came to light on August 15, when police were called to the apartment after one of the boys used a cellphone to send a picture of his chained ankle to his sister, who then alerted authorities. Upon arrival, officers found the boys restrained. When questioned, Guevara and Rodriguez allegedly claimed they chained the boys to “scare” them into staying in the apartment.
Guevara had previously been deported from the United States in February 2019 after being arrested near McAllen, Texas, in 2018 for illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Despite his deportation, Guevara managed to re-enter the U.S. and eventually settled in Fairfax County with Rodriguez. It remains unclear how long he had been living in the country since his illegal return.
Rodriguez has been released on bond, but Guevara remains in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer request for Guevara, seeking to take custody of him if he is released from jail, as reported by The Post Millennial.
This case has raised concerns about the enforcement of immigration laws and the safety of children, as both individuals face serious accusations regarding the treatment of the two boys. Local news reports have detailed the conditions in the apartment where the boys were found chained, sparking outrage in the community.
