(DailyVantage.com) – Former President Donald Trump recently made headlines after being indicted on thirty-seven different federal criminal charges relating to how he allegedly mishandled classified documents after leaving office.
Many citizens feel as though the charges aren’t all that surprising, given how the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home just months ago, but others believe the charges are a political maneuver to distract from another scandal involving President Joe Biden. The scandal in question is unfolding before the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating allegations that President Biden was involved in a bribery scheme while he served as Barack Obama’s Vice President.
As the investigation has unfolded more key details have been revealed, with the allegations seeming more plausible with each new update. The FBI’s current Director Christopher Wray even appeared before the committee, and was almost held in contempt following his refusal to release key documents that might show Biden’s involvement in the alleged bribery scheme.
Trump himself has claimed that the indictment is meant to distract from the ongoing House Oversight Committee investigation, and is politically motivated. Trump claims that the indictment wasn’t made in good faith, but is an attempt at drawing more attention to him so Biden is spared the negative media attention. Biden has dismissed the bribery allegations as “malarkey.” While it seems unlikely that Biden would face criminal charges, the allegations will almost certainly be discussed during the 2024 presidential election.
Ukraine confirmed that the alleged $5 million payment did in fact occur, but has refused to identify Biden as being directly involved. The payment in question is alleged to have come from Burisma, an energy company that had hired Biden’s son Hunter during Biden’s time as Vice President.
Trump’s claims that the indictment is meant as a distraction from Biden’s scandal are being repeated across various social media platforms, and will likely be echoed by top Republicans throughout Congress.
