Jen Psaki's Joke About Joe Biden's Father Falls Flat

(DailyVantage.com) – Russia decided to levy restrictions on some American officials in response to US-led sanctions against Russian businesses and oligarchs. The list includes Press Secretary Jen Psaki, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The Kremlin also sanctioned President Joe Biden, but they left off a key detail — and Psaki wasn’t going to let it drop.

On Tuesday, March 15, Psaki joked that Russia actually might have sanctioned Biden’s father because they left off the suffix of the president’s name, Jr. “May he rest in peace,” the press secretary joked, but her attempt at humor fell flat on attendees of the press conference.

Psaki also blew off the sanctions saying they would all forge ahead because none of them had plans to visit Russia or Russian bank accounts they couldn’t access, so the restrictions were essentially ineffective.

The Kremlin also sanctioned White House officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Russian officials said they enacted the sanctions due to the “extremely Russophobic course” the Biden administration has taken.

In addition to the US, the EU and UK have also levied sanctions against Russia, essentially crippling its economy. Experts believe Moscow may soon default on its debts.
