Jeremy Renner in Critical but Stable Condition After Accident

(DailyVantage.com) – Winter can be a dangerous time, with many people suffering heart attacks each year while shoveling and sustaining injuries after slipping on ice. Snowplow accidents occur, too, and actor Jeremy Renner is one of the latest to land in the hospital after an incident in Reno, Nevada.

On Monday, January 2, Renner’s representative, Samantha Mast, confirmed to Variety Magazine that the Marvel star is in the hospital in critical, yet stable, condition following “a weather-related accident.” He had been snow plowing around Mt. Rose Highway at the time of the incident on Sunday, December 1, which resulted in serious injuries that saw the actor airlifted to the hospital.

On Monday, Renner underwent surgery for what his publicist described as “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and remains in the ICU, according to a statement to CBS News. His family, which remained by his side, has thanked everyone for the outpouring of support, much of which came from his fans and fellow actors.

Over the last month, Renner has posted about the numerous snow storms hitting the Reno area.

The actor is well known for his appearances in many Marvel films as Hawkeye, an archer and friend of Black Widow. He also has a storied career outside the superhero flicks, with appearances in the “Mission Impossible” movies and “28 Weeks Later” and two Oscar nominations for his roles in “The Town” and “The Hurt Locker.”

Renner has two projects coming out early this year — a thriller series, “Mayor of Kingstown,” and “Rennervations,” which follows the actor around various communities where he helps them reimagine “purpose-built vehicles” better suited to the needs of the areas.

Authorities are still investigating the accident, which they say involved only Renner.
