(DailyVantage.com) – Marianne Williamson, the eccentric author who previously ran for president as a Democrat in 2020, confirmed that she will in fact be challenging President Joe Biden in 2024.
Williamson, so far, is the first Democrat to declare her candidacy for 2024. She will likely face off with President Biden, though he has not officially announced a run for reelection. It is, however, expected that he will seek a second term.
Though Williamson has already confirmed the rumors about her presidential bid, she is expected to make an official announcement on March 4th.
The author and spiritual guru made a name for herself in 2020 with her unusual remarks during the Democratic primary debates. During one debate in Miami, Williamson, when asked about the cost of healthcare, declared that “we don’t have a healthcare system in the United States; we have a sickness-care system.” Williamson, to the surprise of the other candidates on the stage, was questioning why so many Americans are getting sick in the first place.
Quips like this are, in large part, what made Williamson stand out from the rest of the Democratic field. She will likely play on this eccentric approach during her 2024 run.
Williamson, who has stated that Democrats cannot defeat Trump by just having plans and policies, has called for a sort of spiritual reawakening in America. In a tweet posted by Williamson in 2019, she wrote that spiritual people, like those who practice yoga, are “not in the habit of expressing ourselves in political terms and that is tragic for the world.”
So far, it appears as though the Democratic field will not be nearly as large as the Republican field which already has three declared candidates: Former President Donald Trump, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
