(DailyVantage.com) – The sister of RFK Jr. further distanced herself from her brother over his endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump in the election, claiming that his endorsement desecrated and trampled on the memory of their father.
The independent presidential candidate suspended his campaign on August 23 and threw his support behind Trump. In his announcement, Kennedy said he was filing to remove his name from the ballots in ten battleground states to ensure that he did not draw votes away from the former president.
That same day, five of Kennedy’s siblings signed a statement condemning their brother’s support for Trump and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. The Kennedy siblings claimed that their brother’s endorsement was a “betrayal” of the values held by their father and the larger Kennedy family.
Sister Kerry Kennedy, who was among the siblings to sign the statement, later appeared on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” where she again voiced her anger and disgust over her brother’s endorsement of Trump.
She described her brother’s “embrace” of the former president as “gaudy and obscene” and told host Jen Psaki that she disassociated herself from her brother’s effort to “desecrate and trample” the memory of her father, Robert F. Kennedy.
Kennedy reiterated that she was supporting Vice President Harris in the November election and suggested that if her father was alive today, he would detest “everything Donald Trump represents.”
Kennedy also claimed that Harris and her running mate Tim Walz championed the same values that the Kennedy family has been fighting for “for years.” She described Donald Trump as a threat to “basic freedoms” like abortion and the right to be free from “gun violence.”
She called Trump “incredibly dangerous” and claimed that her brother’s endorsement was “anathema to everything” the Kennedy family stood for and what her father gave his life to.
In an August 25 interview on “Fox News Sunday,” RFK Jr. told anchor Shannon Bream that while he understood that his family was “troubled” by his endorsement of Trump, he hoped they would find a way to disagree while still loving each other.
