Lemon: Trump Must Stop Harming Democracy

(DailyVantage.com) – Former CNN host Don Lemon criticized former President Donald Trump on Monday’s OutFront, arguing that Trump should “stop threatening democracy” if he wants Democrats to stop labeling him as a threat. Lemon’s comments came in response to recent statements from Trump and his supporters, including Senator JD Vance, who suggested that Democrats are to blame for recent violent incidents, including the second assassination attempt on Trump.

“For Donald Trump and his folks to say, and JD Vance to say that it’s Democrats who are causing this, that’s an issue,” Lemon stated, addressing accusations that Democrats’ rhetoric is fueling violence against Trump.

Lemon then listed numerous controversial statements made by Trump over the years, criticizing his divisive language. “He’s called everyone who works in this building the enemy of the people. We had pipe bombs sent because he kept calling us the enemy of the people and that CNN was fake news,” Lemon said. He continued by reciting various derogatory terms Trump has used against political opponents, media figures, and immigrants, including “Crooked Joe, Crooked Hillary, Crooked Kamala, Comrade Kamala, Deranged Jack Smith, Birdbrain Nikki Haley,” among others.

Lemon highlighted Trump’s inflammatory remarks, including his comments about immigrants, his criticisms of countries like Haiti, and his derogatory statements toward women, such as his infamous remarks about Megan Kelly. He described Trump’s rhetoric as “Hitleresque” and accused him of fostering a dangerous atmosphere.

“If Donald Trump wants people, wants Kamala Harris and others to stop saying that he is a threat to democracy then he should stop threatening democracy,” Lemon argued. He criticized Trump for his actions following the 2020 election, including attempts to overturn the results, and his role in inciting the January 6 Capitol riot. “Perhaps he shouldn’t be overturning, trying to overturn elections, overthrow the government, and inciting insurrections if he doesn’t want people to be honest about what he is, who he is, and what he’s doing.”

Lemon’s comments reflect ongoing tensions between Trump and his critics, who argue that his behavior poses a significant threat to democratic norms and civil discourse.
