(DailyVantage.com) – In a recent interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, former First Lady Melania Trump discussed her upcoming memoir and her stance on abortion, sparking significant reactions across the political spectrum. During the Sunday Morning Futures interview, Melania revealed that she had spoken with former President Donald Trump about her views before including them in her book. She made it clear that she has long supported the idea of individual freedom when it comes to women’s reproductive rights.
“He knew my position since the day we met,” Melania said, emphasizing her belief in personal autonomy. “I want to decide what I want to do with my body. I don’t want government in my personal business.” She went on to highlight the importance of individual freedom in her memoir, explaining that she supports the right of women to make decisions about their bodies without government interference.
Her forthcoming book, titled Melania, includes a chapter that lays out her thoughts on abortion as a “fundamental right of individual liberty.” She wrote, “It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government.” Melania emphasized that restricting a woman’s right to choose is equivalent to denying her control over her own body, a belief she says she has held her entire adult life.
The former First Lady’s stance has drawn sharp criticism from the pro-life community. Figures like Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, labeled her views “anti-feminist” and contrary to what she sees as true empowerment. Similarly, leaders of pro-life organizations, including Lila Rose and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s Marjorie Dannenfelser, expressed disapproval of Melania’s position, arguing that it conflicts with the Catholic faith, to which Melania subscribes.
On the left, reactions were also divided. The View co-host Joy Behar accused Melania of not being genuine about her pro-choice stance, calling the revelation “a big scam,” while others questioned the timing of her announcement so close to the election. In response, Melania clarified that her book had been written and finalized months before its release. “That was my belief, and it is my belief,” she said, adding that she included her views to be authentic and share her truth.
Melania Trump’s memoir aims to address misconceptions about her and present her perspective in her own words. “There is a lot of misinformation about me and falsehoods written about me,” she stated, hoping that her book will shed light on the real story behind her public image.
