Mike Tyson Jabs and Dodges Charges

Mike Tyson Off the Hook for Beating Passenger on a Plane

Mike Tyson Learns His Fate After Brutal Assault…

(DailyVantage.com) – Mike Tyson gained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s as a successful boxer but saw more than his share of controversy. “Iron Mike” faced assault claims, spent three years in prison for rape, and then there was the infamous ear-biting incident in the ring involving fellow heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield. Tyson recently made headlines again for attacking a passenger on a plane, but it turns out he won’t face charges for the incident.

On April 20, a video of Tyson giving a passenger, Melvin George Townsend III, a beatdown on a JetBlue plane went viral. After the incident, the former boxer walked off the aircraft, leaving his bloodied victim behind.

During the investigation, San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe evaluated the video and determined Townsend’s behavior leading up to the fight was the cause of Tyson’s irritation. The man pestered the boxer and allegedly threw a water bottle at him.

Wagstaffe decided not to press charges against Tyson due to those extenuating circumstances. Additionally, Townsend reportedly refused to cooperate with authorities.

For his part, Townsend said he was “overly excited,” and both parties declined to press charges, prompting San Mateo County to wipe its hands clean of the matter.
