(DailyVantage.com) – German authorities have confirmed that they’ve found fourteen-year-old Aydin Brown, an American teenager who disappeared after he walked away from a cruise ship.
According to German investigators, Brown traveled to Brandenburg, two hours from Rostock-Warnemünde, where he initially disappeared. German police found Brown during the late hours of July 6 and announced that the teenage boy seemed unharmed and relatively safe.
Brown first disappeared after he left a cruise ship on July 4, just moments after it docked in Rostock-Warnemünde. According to German investigators, Brown walked away from the cruise ship after he got into an altercation with his grandmother and left without a companion. Brown’s family began to panic after the teenager failed to contact them or return to the ship, prompting a days-long search coordinated between the cruise ship’s staff and Rostock-Warnemünde police.
Brown’s family claimed they weren’t sure what drove the teenager to leave the cruise ship and said that Brown could’ve met someone who encouraged him to leave the area and travel further into Germany. When police found Brown, he had a 19-year-old companion whom police believed he met moments after leaving the cruise ship in Rostock-Warnemünde. Although investigators lacked information about Brown’s whereabouts following his disappearance, they started an “intensive” search that ultimately uncovered clues about the missing teen’s whereabouts.
Upon Brown’s discovery, his family released a statement to thank German authorities and online users who supported the fourteen-year-old. Brown’s cousin posted about the ordeal on social media, claiming that his family feared for Brown’s safety and prayed for his return. Other members of Brown’s family also posted about the teenager’s disappearance, confirming that the teen had reunited with his mother and grandmother upon his discovery.
Although Brown’s disappearance made national headlines, members of the cruise ship he left weren’t aware of his abrupt disappearance. According to one cruise member, Natasha Worthington, most people aboard the ship seemed upbeat following Brown’s disappearance. Worthington also said that the cruise ship’s staff didn’t discuss the ordeal or share any information about the ongoing search for Brown throughout the entire search.
