“Dr. Doom” Predicts NYC Being Nuked
(DailyVantage.com) – The threat of nuclear war hasn’t been far from people’s minds lately, thanks to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and President Vladimir Putin’s thinly veiled threats to use the devastating weapons. One expert believes the possibility exists that Putin will start an all-out world war, and there’s one specific city in the crosshairs: New York.
Dr. Nouriel Roubini, an economics expert who gained the nickname “Dr. Doom” for his outlandish predictions, thinks Putin isn’t above using nuclear weapons. In fact, he thinks the Russian leader will use them within the next year, and the Big Apple will be a primary target. But first, Roubini believes Putin will use the bombs to devastate Ukraine and NATO.
Such an attack on NYC would be disastrous to the city with its more than 8 million residents and the rest of the world. New York is a global financial capital, meaning numerous related institutions run their firms from the Big Apple. A hit on the stock market would cost billions, if not trillions, of dollars. A 3-day blackout in 2003 cost $785 million.
Earlier this year, New York City Emergency Management aired a commercial advising New Yorkers what to do in the event of a nuclear attack.
As if the threat of nuclear annihilation weren’t enough, Dr. Doom also predicted the Atlantic Ocean would submerge New York City within the next two decades, noting a recent proposal for constructing sea barriers would do little to save it. One final prediction of note involves the US invading Canada to unite with its northern neighbor as a single country.
