(DailyVantage.com) – A progressive squad member, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is known for her incendiary rhetoric towards conservatives, called a group of Tennessee Republican lawmakers fascists on Thursday.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a quote from a video of far-left agitators chanting profanities at GOP legislators. “Republicans,” she said, “may think they won today in Tennessee, but their fascism is only further radicalizing and awakening an earthquake of young people.”
The chants were in response to the Republican-controlled Tennessee House’s decision to expel two radical left-wing Democrats from the lawmaking body. The Democrats in question were seen participating in protests that disrupted House proceedings.
Republicans on Twitter were quick to respond to AOC, accusing her of misleading her followers.
Justin Haskins, from the conservative Heartland Institute, responded to AOC in a tweet. “Do you have any idea what ‘fascism’ means?”, Haskins wrote, “You’re so dishonest. It’s disgusting.”
Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, tweeted, “Breaking: Biden, Obama, AOC, and other left-wing extremists defend violent obstruction and insurrection…in Tennessee.”
There was one particular part of AOC’s tweet, however, that was especially provocative. “If you thought youth organizing was strong”, the squad Democrat wrote, “just wait for what’s coming”.
Conservatives asserted that the latter part of her tweet was a veiled threat.
AOC, however, is no stranger to Twitter drama. In November of last year, the Congresswoman took part in a series of spats with Twitter CEO and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.
AOC, in response to Musk’s decision to charge $8 for a blue checkmark, wrote, “One guy’s business plan for a $44 billion overleveraged purchase is apparently to run around and individually ask people for $8 dollars.”
This seemingly innocuous tweet elicited a firestorm of comments and replies. Musk himself fired back by pointing out that AOC was charging $58 for a sweatshirt on her website.
