O’Donnell Outraged at ‘Morning Joe’ for Trump Meeting, Stops Watching

(DailyVantage.com) – Comedian Rosie O’Donnell has taken sharp aim at MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough after news broke of their recent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. O’Donnell, known for her outspoken criticism of Trump, condemned the visit in a fiery TikTok post, accusing the hosts of hypocrisy.

“For months, you told us Trump was the worst thing to happen to this country and democracy,” O’Donnell said. “And now you go and kiss his ring? Unreal. Despicable, both of you. Last time I ever watch Morning Joe. Period.”

The meeting, which occurred last Friday, came after Trump’s sweeping victory in the presidential election. According to Brzezinski and Scarborough, the conversation with Trump touched on major issues like abortion, immigration, and his proposed retribution against political opponents. On their Monday broadcast, they characterized the discussion as a way to “restart communications” and explore common ground between Trump and Democrats.

But many liberals, like O’Donnell, were outraged by what they saw as a betrayal. Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann called the pair “Trump collaborators,” while MSNBC colleague Katie Phang posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Normalizing Trump is a bad idea. Period.”

Scarborough responded to the backlash during Tuesday’s show, dismissing criticism from social media as out of touch. “There’s a massive disconnect between social media and reality,” he said, explaining that the meeting was meant to provide insights into Trump’s plans, not to normalize him. Brzezinski added, “We realized it’s time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump but also talking with him.”

Still, O’Donnell wasn’t buying it. In her video, she urged viewers to turn off their TVs, accusing news outlets of failing to sound the alarm on what she sees as the dangers of a Trump presidency. “It’s like, ‘Impending doom,’ but without a warning,” she said. “They’re just reporting Trump’s moves like it’s business as usual. It’s not.”

Criticism also came from CNN, where commentator Scott Jennings questioned the sincerity of anti-Trump rhetoric on the left. “All the talk of fascism and Nazis before the election was just noise,” he claimed. “If they really believed it, they wouldn’t be meeting with him.”

For O’Donnell and many others, however, the meeting feels like a step backward—one that undermines years of resistance to Trump’s presidency. Whether the Morning Joe hosts will change their approach remains to be seen, but the controversy shows no signs of cooling.
