Pelosi Ignores Harris in Biden Statement

(DailyVantage.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris’ presumptive presidential run has received the endorsement of Democratic California Representative Nancy Pelosi, despite the latter’s apparent snub just after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.

Just after Biden’s bombshell announcement – made after weeks of insisting that he would not step down, despite multiple continued public flubs as well as a disastrous debate showing against former president Donald Trump – Pelosi issued a statement praising the president, calling him a patriot and a true leader. The statement, posted on X, made no mention of Vice President Harris, despite Biden’s immediate endorsement of his running mate after he said he would relinquish being the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.

The California representative also said during an earlier interview that she would prefer that the Democrats hold a “competitive” primary process in the event that Biden steps down or is replaced, rather than just appoint Harris outright as the liberals’ front-runner.

Pelosi is singing a different tune now, however, as she recently came out with a statement of support endorsing the vice president to become the Democratic Party’s official presidential candidate.

“My enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for president is official, personal and political,” Pelosi said.

As the Democratic National Convention on August 19 draws closer, Harris continues to draw a more unified coalition of support behind her. Prominent voice within the party such as the ultra-progressive “Squad” – which includes Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – have already expressed support for Harris’ candidacy.

Some reports indicate that at least in terms of public commitment, the vice president has enough pledges from delegates to all but guarantee her designation of the Democrats’ front-runner come the DNC in August. However, nothing is official until the delegates’ votes are counted at the DNC and an official presidential candidate is named. It is noteworthy to mention, however, that personalities who have been floated to possibly replace Biden, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, have already thrown their support behind Harris.
