(DailyVantage.com) – Piers Morgan has called for ABC’s The View to be canceled, accusing the show of becoming a “pointless, irrelevant parody” in its persistent opposition to President-elect Donald Trump. Writing in the New York Post, Morgan argued that the hosts, all of whom supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the election, have grown excessively partisan and disconnected from the sentiments of Trump’s voter base.
Morgan criticized the panelists as “partisan obsessives” who fixate on their disdain for Trump rather than offering meaningful or balanced discussion. He claimed the show has lost its relevance, particularly in light of Trump’s strong support in the recent election.
The criticism comes after co-hosts of The View expressed their frustration with the election results. Sunny Hostin attributed Harris’s loss to sexism, racism, and cultural resentment rather than policy shortcomings. Meanwhile, Joy Behar admitted on-air that the panel was “miserable” about Trump’s win, reflecting the show’s broader dissatisfaction.
Despite Morgan’s calls for cancellation, ABC has defended the program, citing its recent ratings success. The View recently celebrated its highest-rated episode in over a decade, with ABC representatives attributing the show’s popularity to its diversity of opinions and lively debate.
Morgan, however, dismissed the ratings milestone, arguing that popularity does not justify what he sees as the show’s one-sided commentary. “America deserves better than a group of people who sit around every morning complaining about the president-elect,” he wrote.
The debate over The View reflects broader tensions in the media landscape following Trump’s victory. While critics like Morgan see the show as emblematic of out-of-touch partisanship, supporters argue that its unapologetic stance resonates with a significant audience. For now, The View remains a cultural lightning rod, both celebrated and scorned for its unfiltered take on American politics.
