(DailyVantage.com) – Hunter Biden served on the board of Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma, for just over a year when he emailed former President Obama’s Deputy Secretary of State, Antony Blinken in May 2015. He was looking for a chance to meet with Blinken over a cup of joe.
Hunter Biden attained his role at Burisma in April 2014, despite having no experience in the natural gas industry, while his father served as Vice President to then President Obama.
Many questions still linger around Hunter Biden’s position on the board and whether or not his influence as the son of the vice president played a role in acquiring the position.
It took three months for Hunter Biden and Anthony Blinken to finally have the one on one meeting, but from the moment Biden requested to meet with Blinken he made sure to keep his colleague at Burisma apprised of the seemingly benign activity.
For unknown reasons, following the simple email exchange between Biden and Blinken setting up a casual meeting, Hunter Biden forwarded the message to a fellow member of the Burisma board, Devon Archer, with no additional comment included.
“Roger,” was Archer’s singular response.
The next email, from Blinken’s personal assistant, asked Biden to verify his available times and attempt to accommodate both men’s schedules. This email was also forwarded to Devon Archer, the only included text from Biden was “FYI”.
The meeting was set for May 27th of 2015 but ultimately didn’t take place at that time. Hunter’s brother, Beau Biden, died of brain cancer at Walter Reed Medical Center three days later and likely played a role in the delay.
On July 22, 2015 Blinken and Biden met for lunch. On the morning of the meeting an email was sent to Biden to remind him of the meeting and cc’d Eric Schwerin, a business partner from Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm, now defunct.
According to a memoir by Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, Schwerin “managed almost every aspect” of the family’s finances.
The links between Hunter Biden and members of his father’s administration have spurred interest in House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R. Kentucky. Comer is heading an investigation into the Biden family’s international business interests.
