Putin’s Ally Says Punishing Russia “Potentially Threatens the Existence of Mankind”

Putin's Ally Says Punishing Russia

Putin’s Ally Is Saying the Quiet Part Out Loud

(DailyVantage.com) – It’s been several months since Russia invaded Ukraine. During this timeframe, Ukrainians, media outlets, and allies have accused Russia of playing dirty, bombing civilian areas, using cluster bombs, and even allegedly murdering Ukrainians in the street. The atrocities have prompted the International Criminal Court (ICC) and Western countries to gather evidence to levy war crimes charges against the Russian government and military. According to one of President Vladimir Putin’s allies, the escalation could lead to devastation.

Dmitry Medvedev, former president and current Security Council chairman, wrote a 550-word statement on his Telegram channel addressing the West’s attitude toward Russia. He made it clear he considered the creation of tribunals to investigate Russia’s actions during its invasion of Ukraine “crazy,” and he warned attempts to punish his government or leaders would lead to a severe threat to the “existence of mankind.”

Medvedev’s post droned on, saying the United States wants nothing more than for Russia to collapse and has wanted this since 1991, when the Soviet Union fell apart. His comments come on the heels of the ICC’s investigation into whether Russia committed war crimes when it invaded Ukraine in February. The ICC gave no time frame for its decision, but it sent the largest-ever investigative team, comprised of 42 team members, to Ukraine in May.

What do you think about Medvedev’s comments?
