(DailyVantage.com) – A teen rapper ended his career before it even began in a tragic incident involving a firearm.
In a video that was posted on social media website Instagram, teenage rapper Rylo Huncho points a gun at his head and accidentally shoots himself. The 17-year-old artist, who hails from Virginia, had been brandishing the weapon in what was apparently a self-promotional video, showing off the firearm’s flashlight and green laser sight. He is seen in the video gripping the weapon and disengaging the safety. Huncho then blurts out a profanity-riddled statement before pointing the gun at his head and pulling the trigger. A gunshot is heard, and then the boy’s phone falls to the floor following the incident.
There was speculation that the incident was fake and was staged, but police from Suffolk, Virginia, confirmed that Huncho – whose real name was Raleigh Freeman III – was found in his mother’s home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities did not release Huncho’s name to the public, but many who saw the video – including the boy’s family and friends – confirmed his identity.
First responders were still able to rush the boy to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead shortly after.
Police say that the incident is still under investigation.
Despite his young age, Huncho released a number of original songs on social media, which included “Money Getta,” “La la la,” and “Bag Talk”.
A family member has also put up a GoFundMe page on behalf of Huncho’s mother, to help pay for his funeral expenses. The page lists “suicide/accidental” as the cause of Huncho’s death, and the family is “still trying to figure out why [the shooting happened].” According to the description of the fundraiser, the boy was his mother’s only child, whom she raised by herself. As of press time, the page has raised a little more than $8,000 of the $15,000 goal.
