Violent Carjacking – Employee Thinks Fast!
(DailyVantage.com) – No one expects to become a crime victim as they head out the door to grab a bite. Yet, one Florida woman very nearly became a carjacking target when she visited a Chick-fil-A location. Thanks to the quick thinking of one alert fast food worker, the customer and the baby with her are safe.
The individual was at the franchise’s Fort Walton Beach location, removing a baby from the car’s back seat, when a man allegedly wielding a stick approached and demanded her keys, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff. When the assailant got in the car, the woman began screaming for help, which alerted employee Mykel Gordon to her distress. Gordon quickly jumped into action, tackling the suspect, later identified as 43-year-old William Branch. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office praised the worker for his bravery.

Video footage showed Gordon holding down the suspect until police arrived on site. Officers promptly arrested Branch and charged him with battery and carjacking with a weapon.
As for Gordon, he didn’t receive serious injuries in the scuffle, and this wasn’t the first time he’s come to someone’s rescue. Four years ago, when a truck fell onto a vehicle, the good Samaritan’s instincts took over, and he helped two trapped teenage girls escape the car. What a hero, indeed.
