(DailyVantage.com) – Two weeks ago, the highest-profile criminal trial to arise from last summer’s nationwide riots drew to a close. Kyle Rittenhouse, 18, was acquitted of all charges related to the fatal shooting of 2 people after he successfully argued he was acting in self-defense. Conservatives have celebrated the outcome as a victory for gun rights, and one well-known Republican has now decided to condemn the media for lying about the events of that fateful night in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
On Monday, November 29, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis slammed the media coverage of the Rittenhouse trial during a press conference in Orlando. He even went as far as to suggest it might have been a factor in the Waukesha tragedy, in which the driver of an SUV plowed into crowds of people, killing six and injuring dozens more.
He speculated the driver, Darrell Brooks, may have committed the violent crime in response to what he saw from the Rittenhouse trial. DeSantis claimed the media eschewed fair reporting of the facts to spin the narrative they wanted to get across.
Darrell Brooks had a history of crime and animosity toward white people, two characteristics the media have been unwilling to talk about, according to DeSantis.
Does the governor have a point?
