Rubio Backs Mass Deportation of Illegal Immigrants

(DailyVantage.com) – With a possible vice president position in play, Republican Senator Mark Rubio has backtracked on his previous statements on the deportation of illegal immigrants in the country, citing that the current migrant crisis in the U.S. warrants “dramatic” action.

Rubio, who is rumored to be one of the top contenders to become the running mate of former president Donald Trump, previously said that Trump’s mass deportation strategy against illegal immigrants was “not a workable plan.” Now, however, Rubio said that it was unsustainable to “absorb 25, 30 million people” who have smuggled themselves illegally into the country.

“They’re here illegally, what country on earth could tolerate that?” Rubio added.

Trump has promised that he will conduct mass deportations of illegal immigrants in the country if he wins the presidency for a second time. The former president said that he would utilize all means to enforce it, including using the National Guard to supplement immigration authorities conducting deportation efforts.

Rubio also scored the vetting process for migrants, saying that many – asylum applicants included – come from “nations that don’t have document systems,” making it near impossible to verify their claims. He also said that the migrant crisis has ceased to be an immigration issue, saying that the mass migration into the U.S. is an “invasion of the country.”

“It needs to be dealt with dramatically,” Rubio said.

The Florida senator, who used to oppose Trump during the Republican presidential primary, also refused to say outright if he would accept the results of the 2024 presidential election.

Rubio said that he would dispute the results of “unfair elections” and said that it was Democrats who have “opposed every Republican victory since 2000.” He claimed that Hillary Clinton initially accused Trump and the GOP of stealing the elections in 2016, but eventually conceded her defeat to the former president. In 2021, however, Rubio voted to certify the results of the 2020 presidential elections – a process that Trump continues to claim was stolen in favor of President Joe Biden and the Democrats.
