(DailyVantage.com) – With the possibility of former President Donald Trump serving another term in the White House, various celebrities have shared their plans if the former president wins.
Among the celebrities who talked about their post-election plans if Trump wins is actress Sharon Stone, who recently appeared at the Taormina Film Festival to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. Stone briefly addressed the upcoming presidential election during an interview at the event, claiming she’d potentially purchase a house in Europe depending on the election’s results.
Although Stone didn’t mention Trump by name during her acceptance speech and subsequent interviews, she did state that American voters are currently facing a presidential candidate campaigning on “hate.” Stone likely meant Trump, as the actress has openly criticized the former president and expressed disdain for his political platform in the past. Stone went on to insinuate that Trump wants to “own” the United States, echoing a common Democratic Party talking point about Trump posing a threat to the United States.
Stone’s comments immediately reminded people of the 2016 presidential election, when many American celebrities expressed their fear about Trump winning. Celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson and Amy Schumer were among those who called for people to vote against Trump in 2016, and both told their fans that they’d be leaving the country if Trump won. Despite their promise to leave the United States, neither Schumer nor Jackson left the country after Trump took office in 2017. Other celebrities have made similar comments over the past few weeks, likely due to Trump’s steadily increasing popularity amongst conservative and independent voters.
Stone’s open hostility towards Trump comes just days after the former president became the official Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Trump’s appearance at the RNC resulted in renewed hype around the former president and included several guest appearances from celebrities like Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock. Trump seemed optimistic about his ongoing reelection bid and reassured his supporters that he’d defeat the Democratic Party’s nominee in November. Although celebrities have started expressing their plans to leave the country if Trump wins the upcoming election, many online commenters remain unconvinced that they’ll follow through on their promise to move from the United States.
