Squad Supports Kamala Harris for President: Most Qualified

(DailyVantage.com) – The ultra-progressive faction of the Democratic Party, also known as the “Squad” have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the presidential race less than a month before the Democratic National Convention.

The majority of the members of the Squad – composed of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Pressley, New York Representative Jamaal Bowman, Missouri Representative Cori Bush, and Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib – have expressed support for Harris to become the Democrats’ official presidential candidate.

“I’m thrilled to support (Kamala Harris) as our Democratic nominee,” Rep. Omar posted on Twitter / X. “I’m all in, let’s go,” Rep. Pressley said of the vice president on the same platform, adding the hashtag #BlackWomenLead in her post. Rep. Bush posted a lengthy statement on her own Twitter / X account, where she called Harris the best bet to overcome the threat that is former president Donald Trump. Rep. Bowman, who recently lost the Democratic primary to a more moderate contender, called Harris the “most qualified” to lead the country forward.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, on the other hand, made a 180-degree turn to support Harris for president, just days after she posted a video on Instagram where she warned against the dangers of replacing President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket just days from the Democratic National Convention. According to AOC, it was essential for Democrats to hold the line especially given how Trump has been making progress in uniting the Republican party behind his own presidential campaign – Trump was recently officially named the GOP’s front-runner in the upcoming presidential elections. In addition, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez claimed that anyone who thought that there was a consensus of support behind Harris was “mistaken.”

Still on the same day that Biden announced that he was relinquishing his presumptive presidential nomination, AOC posted on Twitter / X that ““Kamala Harris will be the next President of the United States.”

As of press time, only Rep. Tlaib has remained silent on her support of Harris. Tlaib, a Palestinian-American, has long been a harsh critic of the Biden administration’s continued support of Israel in its war with Hamas.
