(DailyVantage.com) – President Joe Biden’s inability to manage the freeflow of illegal migrants at the Southern border has resulted in some Texas cities declaring a state of emergency.
Loredo and Brownsville, are the latest two border cities to make the declaration. Brownsville, in particular, is seeing an unprecedented surge of illegals entering the city. In just one week, a whopping 15,000 migrants crossed the US/Mexico border, totally overwhelming authorities.. Most of the migrants came from Venezuela.
Martin Sandoval, the spokesman for the Brownsville Police Department, said that the city has “never seen these numbers before”.
And with Title 42 coming to an end in May, these numbers are expected to climb exponentially.
Though Title 42 has been on the books for decades, the Trump administration utilized the program during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with the intent of reducing “the introduction of communicable diseases.”
Under Title 42, border patrol had the authority to override asylum claims and promptly send illegal migrants back to Mexico.
But with the Biden administration rolling back the COVID-era immigration policy, border states like Texas will likely be overrun by illegals.
Even members of the President’s cabinet have acknowledged this reality. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who has rightly been lambasted by Republicans for his abdication of duty at the border, conceded that the end of Title 42 would lead to a significant uptick in illegal border crossings.
“We do expect that encounters at our southern border will increase”, Mayorkas said, “as smugglers are seeking to take advantage of this change…”
Mayorkas went on to call the roll back of Title 42 a “hemispheric challenge that demands hemispheric solutions”.
The reality, though, is that this new Biden border policy will definitely result in more border states being overrun with illegal migrants. And the Biden team appears ill equipped to handle the problem.
