(DailyVantage.com) – A brewery in North Carolina has reportedly pulled out of a deal with Anheuser-Busch following the recent controversy surrounding the beer company.
Following the controversy, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, an Anheuser-Busch brand, has taken the step to be the first InBev brewery to buy its freedom from the Anheuser-Busch conglomerate. The company was founded in 2011 before entering a partnership with the world beer giant.
Media reports explained that the cousin duo from Asheville, Nathan Kellischek and Chris Zieber, chose to act on the company’s “independent streak” and buy out the conglomerate’s ownership share of their company. Immediately following the decision, the cousins stated that the company will now focus on growing their local team. The company plans to open a taproom, invest in both sustainability and philanthropy and attempt to make a positive impact on communities in North Carolina.
The Anheuser-Busch beer giant controversy started earlier this year, the Anheuser-Busch company featured Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender woman, who was born a biological male and is a social media influencer and actress in an advertisement campaign for Bud Light, an Anheuser-Busch brand beer. Mulvaney is controversial for documenting her transition from being a male, through the transition into a teenage girl. Many members of the public feel that Mulvaney’s girlish behavior is disturbing. For this reason, the ad campaign failed.
The campaign was reportedly arranged by the Captiv8 ad agency which introduced the Anheuser-Busch company to Mulvaney.
Captiv8 locates social media influencers for “blue chip” companies, such as Wal-Mart. Captiv8 is reportedly in “panic mode” following the explosive reaction from the general public to the Mulvaney beer campaign, which continues to damage the Anheuser-Busch company’s bottom line.
The impact of the failed campaign has gone all the way to the staff, with employees explaining to the media that the issue with the Mulvaney campaign has caused hardship for workers who are commission-based. Employees have also faced a growing amount of cyberbullying and abuse following the backlash from the advertisement. The backlash went viral to the point where the American singer Kid Rock even made a video shooting “several cases” of Bud Light with a high-powered rifle.
Additionally, a video captured at a grocery store, which has since gone viral, shows that stores can’t get the Bud Light or other Anheuser-Busch beers “off the shelf” following the campaign.
