Trump Fires Back At Biden Over Jan 6 Criticism

(DailyVantage.com) – With the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots recently hitting their third anniversary, the events of that day are once again the focal point of back-and-forth comments among prominent Republicans and Democrats, chiefly former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

In a campaign speech before supporters in Iowa, the former chief executive hit back at comments made by his successor that accused him of being a “threat” to America’s democracy.

“Joe Biden’s record is an unbroken streak of weakness, incompetence, corruption, and failure,” Trump told attendees. He further accused the president of “fearmongering” and diverting the public’s attention back to the events of January 6 in an attempt to distract them from his failure to run the country properly. The former commander-in-chief also called the Biden administration’s performance “an embarrassment,” citing the current migrant crisis and the mass of migrants at the U.S. border, as well as the increase in inflation during Biden’s term.

As he warms up for the upcoming presidential election later this year, President Biden has taken aim at Trump, who is the favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination, at least where polls are concerned. Poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight puts Trump’s approval among voters at 43.1%, while Biden’s stands at 38.8%.

In remarks to his own supporters, Biden made a direct connection between Trump’s “stolen election” rhetoric and the violent protest action in the Capitol on January 6. He also said that “democracy is on the ballot” and that the elections would show whether democracy is still America’s most “sacred cause.”.

The Biden-Harris campaign also pointed out Trump’s seeming “confusion” on clean energy, as the former president made a number of incoherent statements on Biden’s clean energy initiatives, claiming that windmills were being “made in China” and that the Asian nation’s water pollution somehow reaches the U.S. West Coast.

Biden also called out Trump’s constant harping that he was cheated out of the presidency in 2020, saying that the former president was selfishly “obsessed with the past.”.

“Donald Trump’s campaign is about him, not America,” Biden said.
