Trump Is Quietly Targeting Ron DeSantis’ Biggest Weapon!

(DailyVantage.com) – Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign has been reaching out to donors behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to launch his own presidential campaign in the near future, in an attempt to get them to back him instead, according to reports.

The Trump campaign sent a memo to DeSantis’ donors on April 4, highlighting Trump’s growing popularity in the polls versus DeSantis’ “collapsing” support. The memo went on to declare that now was “the time” for donors to show their support for Trump and to “join Team 47 early.”

According to Politico, the memo linked to a donation page where donors could pledge their support to Trump’s 2024 campaign, as well as a report compiled by Trump’s pollster John McLaughlin that showed Republicans “unifying” behind Trump in the wake of his New York indictment.

While DeSantis has not yet officially launched his 2024 presidential campaign, polls have shown him to be the second-most popular Republican candidate behind Trump, who is also likely to be his main opponent during the Republican primary.

Some DeSantis donors have reportedly expressed concern over whether the Florida governor should take on Trump in 2024 or wait until 2028.

Prominent donors to DeSantis include billionaire hedge fund manager Kenneth Griffin, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, and billionaire couple Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein.

On April 3, it was reported that the pro-DeSantis ‘Never Back Down’ super PAC had raised $30 million in less than a month. The super PAC has hired several veterans of Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, including strategic communications director Matt Wolking and communications director Erin Perrine. Both Wolking and Perrine opened fire on their former boss in recent weeks, warning that Trump would lose the election to Biden again if nominated.

Trump, meanwhile, has hired DeSantis’ former director of external affairs, Justin Caporale, and has made frequent attacks on the Florida governor, branding him ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’. DeSantis, who has yet to officially launch his own campaign, has generally ignored Trump’s remarks.
