(DailyVantage.com) – Former President Donald Trump recently returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, where he survived an assassination attempt during a July campaign rally. In an interview on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Trump explained that he went back to Butler because of “unfinished business.”
Bartiromo referenced how Trump had reintroduced a chart on illegal immigration during his rally, a chart he credits with saving his life. At the July rally, Trump turned his head to the chart just as a gunman opened fire, causing a bullet to graze his ear. Bartiromo praised his decision to return to the same location, highlighting Trump’s remark, “As I was saying,” which he used to kick off his rally.
In the interview, Trump reflected on the emotional and symbolic significance of revisiting Butler. He noted the strong reaction from the crowd when he brought the chart back out, saying, “The audience understood it immediately.” He also held a moment of silence during the rally at the exact time the shooting occurred on July 13, honoring Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who lost his life in the attack. Several others, including Trump, were injured. The gunman was killed by Secret Service counter-snipers.
Trump also described how the event paid tribute to Comperatore with the recorded sound of Notre Dame’s famous bells, creating an emotional atmosphere. “You heard the bells going. And there are no bells like that in the village,” Trump said, adding that the sound added weight to the moment.
The rally continued with a powerful performance of Ave Maria by opera singer Christopher Macchio, which Trump described as deeply moving. “Half of the people were crying. I mean, it was incredible. Everybody. I mean, the place was going wild,” he said, describing the emotional impact of the performance on the crowd.
Trump’s return to Butler, framed as a defiant and symbolic moment, underscored his message of resilience as he looks to reclaim the presidency.
