Trump’s Win Leads Bette Midler to Delete Her X (Twitter) Profile

(DailyVantage.com) – Bette Midler, known for her outspoken comments on social media, has deleted her X (formerly Twitter) account after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. Midler, who starred in Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2, has long been vocal about her disapproval of Trump and his supporters, making her exit from the platform both surprising and in character for the actress known for her dramatic statements.

Just before deleting her account, Midler shared a post that suggested her election anxiety had reached new heights. She posted a photo showing two bottles—one of Drano, with a sticker reading “Trump Wins,” and another of champagne, labeled “Kamala Wins.” The dark humor in her post was clear, as she seemed to be bracing herself for the outcome.

Midler has a history of venting her frustrations about Trump on X. In July, she reacted strongly to news that a federal court dismissed the “documents” case against him. Along with other celebrities, Midler expressed outrage, claiming the ruling represented a disturbing politicization of the judicial system, despite her own posts often taking on a sharply partisan tone.

The actress’s disdain for Trump has also extended to his supporters and allies. When Elon Musk restored Trump’s X account in 2022, Midler described the decision as “a tragic day for America”. She even spread an unproven rumor about Musk, suggesting he had come to the U.S. illegally from South Africa—a claim that drew criticism for its baseless and divisive nature.

Earlier that year, Midler compared the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, to the September 11 terrorist attacks, a comparison that many found outlandish and offensive. She claimed the events left her in a “similar state of shock,” though critics pointed out the stark differences between the two.

Her departure from X underscores the tension between some in Hollywood and Trump’s base. Midler’s posts often reflected the highly charged atmosphere of recent political debates, and her decision to leave X likely signals her frustration with what she sees as a shift in the political landscape. Her exit is one of many by celebrities reacting strongly to recent election outcomes and signals a growing divide in the public sphere. Whether Midler will reappear on social media remains to be seen, but her absence will certainly be noticed by her followers.
